Evaluation of Cyclic Loading Effects on Residual Stress Relaxation in Offshore Wind Welded Structures

Monopile foundations contain welding residual stresses and are widely used in industry to support offshore wind turbines (OWTs). The monopiles subjected hammering loads during installation cyclic operation, therefore the influence of stress redistribution as a result fatigue cycles must be evaluated these structures. existing empirical models predict presence loading conditions strongly dependent on material, process conditions. Hence, there is need using finite element simulations. In this study numerical analyses have been conducted initial state simplified weld geometry examine subsequent relaxation behavior profiles. results shown that severe effect with greatest reduction values observed first cycle.
